FAQs

What sizes of shipping container units do you offer?

We offer standard converted shipping container units in two main sizes:
20ft containers: 20 feet long × 8 feet wide × 8 feet high (6.1m x 2.4m x 2.9m)
40ft containers: 40 feet long × 8 feet wide × 8 feet high (12.2m x 2.4m x 2.9m)
Both sizes provide excellent flexibility for various projects, from garden offices and studios to retail spaces and accommodation units.

Can I get a larger space by combining multiple containers?

Yes! We can join multiple shipping container units together to create larger, more expansive spaces. This modular approach allows us to create layouts that perfectly suit your needs, whether you’re creating a multi-room office complex, a spacious retail unit, or a larger residential conversion.

How are shipping containers delivered to my site?

Single container units are typically transported and unloaded using a HIAB lorry (a lorry with a hydraulic crane arm). For some locations or larger installations, a separate mobile crane may be required. We’ll assess your site access during the planning stage and advise on the best delivery method.

How are larger container units transported and installed?

Our larger multi shipping container units are cleverly designed to split into sections for transportation. This makes delivery much easier, especially to sites with access restrictions. Once on your property, our experienced installation team reassembles the units on-site, ensuring a seamless finish.

How long does installation take?

Installation is quick and efficient:
Single units: Usually installed in a single day
Combination units: Typically completed within 2-5 days
This includes positioning the container, reassembling split units, and ensuring everything is level and secure. The speed of installation means minimal disruption to your property.

What type of access do you need for delivery?

We’ll need adequate access for a large delivery vehicle. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your site’s specific access requirements, including:
-Road width and turning circles
-Overhead obstructions (power lines, trees)
-Ground conditions for vehicle access
-Any restrictions in your area

Your haulage provider will inform you of any specific requirements for their vehicles and will work with you to ensure delivery is smooth and efficient.

What foundations do shipping container conversions need?

One of the benefits of shipping container buildings is that they’re surprisingly lightweight and don’t require complex foundations. Support is needed at:
-The four corner points
-Sometimes at the centre (depending on container size)

Suitable foundation options include:
Concrete pads: Durable and permanent
Ground screws: Quick to install, minimal excavation
Jack pads: Adjustable and suitable for uneven ground

Do you recommend a specific foundation installer?

For ground screw foundations, we recommend No More Digging, who specialise in this efficient and eco-friendly foundation system. Ground screws can typically be installed in a day and provide excellent stability for container buildings.
If you prefer to work with concrete foundations we recommend engaging a local contractor who can provide specific guidance for your site.

Do your containers come with utilities connected?

Our converted shipping containers arrive fully fitted and ready for use internally, but you’ll need to arrange for local qualified tradespeople to connect external utilities before or shortly after delivery. This includes:
Electricity: Mains connection or off-grid solar options
Water supply: If required for your container
Waste disposal: Drainage and sewerage connections
Internet/telecommunications: As needed
We can provide guidance on what’s required for your specific project.

Do I need planning permission for a shipping container conversion?

Planning requirements vary depending on:
-Your location and local authority
-The intended use of the container
-The size and position on your property
-Whether it’s a temporary or permanent structure
Many garden office and studio conversions fall under Permitted Development Rights and don’t require planning permission, but this isn’t always the case

Can you help with planning permission?

Yes! We partner with trusted planning consultants Greenfinch who can advise you on navigating the planning permission process. They’ll help you understand whether you need permission, what documentation is required, and guide you through the application if necessary.

What are your payment terms?

Our straightforward payment schedule is structured in three stages:
50% deposit: Upon order confirmation
40% second payment: When your container conversion is completed at the factory
10% final payment: Upon delivery and installation at your site
This phased approach protects both parties and aligns payments with project milestones.

Do you offer financing options?

While we don’t provide direct financing, we work with trusted finance partners who can help make your shipping container conversion project a reality. We can connect you with suitable options during your consultation.

How much does a shipping container conversion cost?

Every project is unique, and costs vary depending on:
-Container size (20ft vs 40ft)
-Internal specification and finishes
-Additional features (windows, doors, partitions)
-Electrical and plumbing requirements
-External finish and cladding options
You’ll find pricing for our standard models on our website or Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote tailored to your specific requirements and budget.

How long will my shipping container conversion last?

Our converted shipping containers are built to last, with an expected lifespan of 50-60 years when properly maintained. The robust steel structure provides exceptional durability compared to traditional timber buildings.

What warranty do you provide?

You’ll receive:
10-year structural warranty: Covering the integrity of the main container structure
Manufacturer warranties: On finishes, windows, doors, and other components
This comprehensive warranty coverage gives you peace of mind that your investment is protected.

How long does it take to build a shipping container conversion?

Our production time is impressively efficient at 12 weeks per project from order confirmation to completion. This includes:
-Design finalisation
-Factory construction and fitting
-Quality control checks
-Preparation for delivery
This quick turnaround means you can be enjoying your new space in just three months.

What maintenance do shipping container conversions require?

Like any building, shipping container conversions require regular maintenance to keep them in excellent condition:
External cladding: Requires attention approximately every 3 years (exact timing depends on the material and environmental exposure)
Paintwork: Periodic touch-ups as needed
Seals and weatherproofing: Annual inspection recommended
Gutters and drainage: Regular clearing of debris
Maintenance requirements are generally comparable to or less than traditional buildings, especially with quality materials and finishes.

Can I choose my own internal finishes?

Absolutely! We offer a wide variety of internal finishes to personalise your space, including:
-Wall finishes and cladding materials
-Flooring options
-Ceiling treatments
-Colour schemes
-Fixtures and fittings
You’ll receive finish options with your quote, and we’ll work with you to create a space that perfectly matches your vision and requirements.

Can you incorporate specific features I need?

-Mezzanine levels for additional space
-Large windows and bi-fold doors
